CAZENOVIA — On March 17, the Cazenovia Area Senior Association (CASA) presented a St. Patrick’s Day luncheon at the Hampton Inn & Suites Cazenovia.
The event, which was held in compliance with COVID-19 regulations, featured an Irish meal catered by the Lincklaen House and live music.
“The food was delicious, and we were treated to Irish songs and music by local entertainer Greg Hoover,” said CASA President Chuck Amos.
For over a decade, CASA has provided activities and services to individuals 55 and older residing in the Towns of Nelson, Fenner and Cazenovia.
CASA was formed in 2007 to address the need for an organization to provide services, such as recreational activities and social opportunities, to seniors in the community. The group began operating a year later with assistance from the Greater Cazenovia Area Chamber of Commerce.
CASA receives funding from the Town and Village of Cazenovia and the Towns of Fenner and Nelson.
Some of the organization’s pre-COVID activities included trips to the Corning Museum of Glass and performances at Syracuse Stage.
CASA held its first event since the onset of the pandemic on Dec. 9.
The holiday lunch, which was held at the Hampton Inn, was followed by a lasagna luncheon on Feb. 11. According to Amos, both events were in strict compliance with COVID guidelines.
Future luncheons at the Hampton Inn are scheduled for April 14, May 30, June 10 and July 14. The cost is $5 and attendance will be limited to CASA members.
CASA has also planned a self-guided garden tour at Lorenzo State Historic Site on June 24, with lunch provided by the Dave’s Diner food truck.
On July 22, the organization will present a tour of The Hilltop House and Studio at Stone Quarry Hill Art Park, with lunch outdoors at Madison County Distillery.
“We had been planning a trip to the Adirondack Boat Museum on June 21, but that event has been rescheduled for 2022, as we are not having any bus trips during COVID,” said Amos. “Our board has opted to have the self-drive events at Lorenzo and the Art Park, as well as the luncheons at the Hampton Inn, to provide safe entertainment during the pandemic with the added benefit of supporting our local economy.”
