LIVERPOOL — After postponing its summer film festival, the American High film company instead scheduled a fifth anniversary celebration for the same weekend.
Axelle Azoulay, who was co-director of the film fest, is now directing the outdoor birthday party scheduled for all-day Saturday, Aug. 20, on the baseball field behind the American High building at 800 Fourth St.
“The event will include many outdoor fun activities, games, local food trucks and of course the option to dunk American High executives and others,” Azoulay wrote in a recent email. “The outdoor field day will be followed by a screening of one of our films in our auditorium, including a Q&A.”
Tours of the company’s Academy at Syracuse Studios will be conducted throughout the day.
American High is expected to shoot another comedy here this summer, but has yet to release details about the film or its stars.
The property, which Hollywood director Jeremy Garelick purchased in 2017, includes six-plus acres of land along with the former Liverpool High School building, constructed in 1929.
Israeli-born actor/producer Azoulay is co-directing the Aug. 20 event along with Ana Olano, who has worked as an assistant to CEO Garelick.
“While the primary goal of the event is American High’s fifth birthday and a big celebration and show of appreciation of our community, it will also function as a fundraiser for our first film festival which is now set for August 2023,” Azoulay wrote.
All village residents are invited to attend the free-admission anniversary festival on Aug. 20.
