There’s no shortage of restaurants in Baldwinsville, and the next few weeks will bring the perfect opportunity to try them out.
A dozen Baldwinsville restaurants are partnering with Eat Local CNY once again for Baldwinsville Dining Weeks between Jan. 19 and Feb. 8. Diners will be able to enjoy a three-course meal for $25 and other deals on food and drink at participating restaurants during the event.
Anthony Tringale, founder of Eat Local CNY, has helped coordinate the event, contacting restaurants, arranging promotional photos of the featured dishes and boosting the event on social media.
Tringale said the event is growing, thanks to the support B’ville business owners extend to each other.
“I can’t really say that I’ve found another area that’s more supportive of one another than Baldwinsville or even where there’s so many restaurants in one area,” Tringale said. “They’re all sharing ideas and trying to help each other out. It’s like a neighbor asking a neighbor for a cup of sugar.”
Jeff and Tiffany Rogers, owners of Angry Garlic, echoed this sentiment in a press release about BDW.
“What’s awesome about this event is all of the restaurants working together to create the buzz that the B’ville restaurant scene is incredible. All of the restaurant owners have a group text going all the time, bouncing around ideas and creating something new and unique for B’ville,” they said.
BDW is building on the success of last year’s event and the Taste of B’ville held last fall on Paper Mill Island, which drew 3,000 customers, according to Jeff and Tiffany Rogers.
“It’s just nice to see that that is growing,” Tringale said.
As with last year’s event, diners can expect a “tap takeover” from local breweries.
“We’ve contacted about five different breweries around the area to come do sampling and tap takeovers,” Tringale said.
While most participants will offer a three-course meal, some establishments are focusing on desserts or drinks, Tringale said. Olive’s Eatery will feature nonalcoholic beverages.
“Everyone brings their “A” game to the tables and it gets guests out of their house to experience something new in the cold CNY winter,” Jeff and Tiffany Rogers said.
Many of the participants of this year’s BDW took part in the inaugural event, but there are a few newcomers to the event, including Canal Side Café & Bistro, Sammy Malone’s and The Wood.
“Heather [Carr] did a really great job of renovating that space, which is gorgeous,” Tringale said of the new owner of The Wood, formerly known as The Ironwood.
While diners can say hello to new restaurants like The Wood, BDW is also a chance to say goodbye to one of Baldwinsville’s mainstays. Mohegan Manor owner Dennis Sick announced in November that the restaurant will close to the public as of Feb. 16. It will remain open as a banquet facility and for private members.
“It’s one of the last opportunities to get to Mohegan Manor unless you’re having an event there or you’re a member,” Tringale said of Baldwinsville Dining Weeks.
