ACR Health holds its ninth Annual Sled for RED Cardboard Sledding Derby at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2 at Four Seasons Golf and Ski Center in Fayetteville.
Each Cardboard Sled Team competes to win the fastest sled, the slowest sled, the loudest cheer team, the highest fundraiser, the best decorated sled, most social team, and the best team costume. Each team must fundraise a minimum of $250 to compete. A team has five members.
A Snow Tubing Party follows the Derby at a reduced cost of $15 per person; or come inside the heated tent, enjoy warm beverages, food and beer sampling for $10 per person; $5 for ages 10 and younger.
New this year is a family marshmallow-roasting/S’mores-making fire pit area sponsored by Wegmans.
For adults: The Best Wintry Drink competition pits area bars and restaurants in a contest to design a new winter libation. Contestants pay $150 registration fee and supply their own materials. Sled for RED participants sip, then vote for their favorite drink.
Bells Brewery will be sampling some of their seasonal favorites from behind a custom-made ice bar.
Sled for RED registration begins at 4 p.m. The Cardboard Sledding Derby begins promptly at 5 p.m., followed by the Competition for CNY’s Best Wintry Drink, marshmallow roasting, food and beverage sampling inside the heated tent and a Snow Tubing Party on the slopes.
All proceeds from Sled for RED support ACR Health’s mission to create healthy communities by stopping the spread of HIV/AIDS, leading the charge for LGBTQ Equality and the fight against addiction and poverty.
