Green Lakes cancels Wicked Woods annual celebration
The spooky season is upon us, and with that comes many family-friendly events sponsored by local municipalities and organizations. Here is a list of Halloween-related events for residents to enjoy in the upcoming weeks.
The Village of Manlius Recreation will hold a special Trunk-or-Treat event from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday Oct. 21 at the Village Centre parking lot, at 1 Arkie Albanese Avenue. Costumed children are invited to trick-or-treat from the decorated trunks of cars from local residents and organizations. A Halloween themed movie will be held at 6:15 on the screen at the village amphitheater. The event is free but pre-registration is required by calling 315-682-7887.
At Green Lakes State Park, patrons are invited to attend a free fabric bag decorating event from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 29 at the park’s office. These bags can be decorated to use for trick-or-treating.
The Town of Manlius Hall is hosting a trick-or-treat event from 2 to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31 at town hall, 301 Brooklea Drive, Fayetteville. Each department within the village offices will be handing out candy for costumed children. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. The event is free but pre-registration is required by going to manliustown.recdesk.com by Oct. 30.
The Village of East Syracuse Parks and Recreation department will be holding a Halloween party from 2:30 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31 for children in kindergarten to fifth grade. The event starts at the East Syracuse Elementary Gym and at 4 p.m. a parade to the East Syracuse Fire Department will occur, and pick-up is at 5 p.m. at the fire station. The event will include Halloween games, coloring, crafts, candy, and cider and doughnuts. The event is free, but all participants must fill out a form, which can be found at the village offices, 204 N. Centre St., East Syracuse.
From 5 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31, residents of Minoa are invited to attend the annual Halloween Party organized by the village office and the Minoa Fire Department at the Municipal Building Fire Station 1. Free cider and doughnuts will be provided.
One annual Halloween event this year that will not be held is the Wicked Woods celebration at Green Lakes State Park, due to construction of the parking area and to begin construction of the new Environmental Education Center and boathouse.
