The Baldwinsville Rotary Club invites all senior citizens in their community to register for a free evening of food and entertainment at Canton Woods Senior Center starting at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 27. The menu will include grilled hot dogs and hamburgers, classic sides of beans, mac salad and coleslaw, and fruit jello and cupcakes for dessert. During meal service, seniors will also be entertained with trivia, music and even door prizes.
Many in the community may remember that the club previously hosted a turkey dinner each December, but after several years of cancellations due to weather, the event was transformed into a picnic in July. There are also many resources for those in need during the holidays and Rotarians wanted to provide a service for seniors at another time of the year. Several features from the Christmas event still carried over, such as sit-down service for all in attendance, help with volunteers from Syracuse Home and a festive atmosphere. The goal is still to provide a free meal and opportunity to socialize.
Seniors are urged to register by calling Canton Woods at 638-4536 before Friday, July 22.
The Baldwinsville Rotary Club is a service organization that has been giving back to our community for over 40 years. Members work together to raise money and find helpful ways to put it back into the community, through scholarships, supporting other organizations and implementing programs. The club is also very social, having fun while working together for the greater good. Guests are always welcome to come to a meeting and learn more. The club meets at 7 p.m. Tuesdays or 12:15 p.m. Wednesdays at the First United Methodist Church. Be sure to check the schedule at BaldwinsvilleRotary.org in case there is something special going on.
