The Syracuse Silver Knights welcomed Alex Bono back to the Central New York area for Baldwinsville Soccer Appreciation Night on Dec. 29.
Bono, a Baldwinsville native, started all five games for Toronto FC in the 2017 MLS playoffs. He kept three clean sheets and made 10 saves to help Toronto FC capture its first Major League Soccer Cup Championship.
After playing goalkeeper at C.W. Baker High School, Bono went on to play at Syracuse University, where he started 59 games in goal over his three-season career with the Orange. Bono made 201 saves and kept 30 clean sheets during his time with Syracuse.
Toronto FC selected Bono with the sixth overall pick in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft. After not seeing the field in his first year in the league, Bono has started 43 regular season games for Toronto FC over the past two seasons. He has made 114 saves and has kept 14 clean sheets as Toronto’s current first-choice goalkeeper.
Baldwinsville Soccer Appreciation Night also celebrated B’ville natives and Silver Knight players Andrew Coughlin, Nate Bourdeau and Ben Ramin.
