ONONDAGA COUNTY – Though able to practice outdoors in late March, it wasn’t until late last week that the Baldwinsville girls golf team finally played its first matches of the 2022 season.
And the Bees were quite successful, starting last Thursday in Camillus, where it took on West Genesee and put together a 163-173 victory over the Wildcats.
Gloria Metallo’s 37 for nine hole equaled that of WG’s Sophia Simiele, but Alexandra Cavino got a 38 which was seven ahead of the Wildcats’ second-best round from Olivia Snyder.
That, along with a 43 from Reagan Doan, 45 from Anna Falcone and 46 from Sadie Ward, gave the Bees momentum heading into Friday’s match against Cicero-North Syracuse Green at Northern Pines.
There, B’ville won again, 227-262, led by Falcone’s 51 in windy conditions. Cavino had a 56, with Metallo getting a 59 and Julia Quinn’s fourth-place 61 one ahead of the Northstars’ Lindsey Kubala and Mya Ashkar.
B’ville plays twice more this week, against Liverpool at Hickory Hills and a rematch with C-NS in the home opener at Timber Banks.
