WAPPINGERS FALLS -What was already a terrific season for Baldwinsville boys cross country junior Solomon Holden-Betts culminated with a strong run at the Nov. 20 New York State Federation championships.
The Federation meet again took place at Bowdoin Park in Wappingers Falls, resuming after COVID-19 canceled the 2020 edition.
In a field of more than 280 runners, Holden-Betts beat most of them, covering the Bowdoin Park course in 16 minutes, 24.5 seconds.
That put Holden-Betts in 15th place, less than a minute behind the winning 15:34.7 recorded by LaSalle Institute’s Gitch Hayes.
Section III runners, as a whole, did quite well as Fayetteville-Manlius was second to Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake in the team standings, along with a third from West Genesee’s Peter McMahon and a sixth from Liverpool’s Ryan Hagan.
