ONONDAGA COUNTY – Whether it’s in sprints or in longer distance races, Cicero-North Syracuse girls track and field runner Hannah Boyle continues to dazzle.
During the May 29 Westhill-Tully Multi-Team Invitational, Boyle went to the 800-meter run and, winning the race in two minutes, 10.54 seconds, posted the fastest time in the state this spring and broke a C-NS school record to go with her school mark already established in the 400-meter dash.
In that same meet, Kate Putman won the 1,500-meter run in 4:42.56 as Lilly Capria, clearing 5 feet, prevailed in the high jump and Allison Newton won the 400 hurdles in 1:09.04. C-NS took the 4×800 relay in 9:27.01.
Moving to the boys meet, the Northstars had Maxwell White throw the shot put 44’9 1/2” to prevail there, with Isaiah Wright taking the 110 hurdles in 16.33 seconds and Sam Nessel winning the 400 sprint in 52.93 seconds.
Jack Tschopp, second in the hurdles, and Jacob Schmid went 1-2 in the high jump, each clearing 5’6” as C-NS swept the 4×100 (45.59 seconds) and 4×400 (3:37.65) relay events.
From there, C-NS went on to gain a 77-64 victory over Baldwinsville in last Wednesday’s boys meet that completed a sweep of the SCAC Metro division, and Matt LeClair led the way.
Sweeping the distance races, LeClair went 2:08 flat in the 800, then put together a 1,600-meter run of 4:33.66 and, in the 3,200-meter run, was triumphant in 10:19.67.
White threw the shot put 40’5 1/2” as Isaiah Wright was victorious in the 110 hurdles in 16.10 seconds and Gavin McAllister, clearing 10’6”, won the pole vault. Carlton Garnes had a winning long jump of 20’9”.
Liverpool would finish its league schedule last Tuesday against Fayetteville-Manlius, with the Warriors easily earning a 94-46 victory over the Hornets.
Jason Swanson, Michael Nigro and Noah Smith won two events apiece, with Swanson tearing to first in the 100 in 11.88 seconds and taking the 200 in 24.24 seconds.
Nigro went 37’5 1/4” in the triple jump and also prevailed in the long jump, going 18’11”, while Smith had a first-place discus throw of 105’7” to go with winning the shot put with a heave of 37’3”.
Elsewhere, Bennett Robb was first in the high jump, clearing 5’10”, while Declan Fahy topped 6 feet in the pole vault and Ayush Patel claimed the 400 sprint in 56.18 seconds. Ryan Hagan ran the 800 in 2:04.99 to take that race.
