DEWITT – Before February concluded, the Baldwinsville boys swim team had one more competition when it took on Jamesville-DeWitt/Christian Brothers Academy last Saturday afternoon.
Though the Bees lost, 158-126, to the Red Rams, it still had a series of fine performances, capped by a victory in the closing 400-yard freestyle relay.
B’ville’s quartet of Tristan Miranda, Harrison Meyers, Matt Lange and Mikey White went three minutes, 34.84 seconds in that relay, just ahead of the 3:36.37 that J-D/CBA put up.
A series of runner-up finishes marked the rest of the meet, with Miranda a close second in two different races.
During the 200 freestyle, Miranda posted 1:52.22, half a second behind the Rams’ Nathaniel Wales at 1:51.72. The 500 freestyle had Miranda finish in 5:10.93, beaten by Wales’ 5:09 flat.
White, for his part, was second in the 50 freestyle in 23.45 seconds to the 23.25 from J-D/CBA’s Nathan Chen. The 100 freestyle was even closer, White going 52.78 seconds but the Rams’ Mark Bratslavsky prevailing in 52.72.
Trevor Kantak took second place in the 100 butterfly in 1:02.80, while also helping Miranda, White and Lange go 1:37.72 in the 200 freestyle relay.
In the 200 medley relay, Kantak, Ben Webster, Alex Lakomski and Ryan Wilson finished in 1:58.49 as Lange took third in the 200 freestyle (1:58.82) and 100 freestyle 53.74).
Moving to the 100 backstroke, Aidan Solomon had the Bees’ best finish, getting third in 1:04.29, while in the 100 breaststroke Keenan Smith was third in 1:13.51 ahead of Wilson’s 1:14.25.
