Each of the area’s high school gymnastics teams would compete once more before the end of October.
Jamesville-DeWitt/Fayetteville-Manlius hosted Whitesboro last Tuesday night, and it proved another showcase for Rylee Fishkin as her team defeated the Warriors 138.00-132.55.
To lead the all-around standings, Fishkin scored 9.45 on uneven bars and 9.20 in floor exercise, winning both events, while also getting 9.35 on balance beam and 8.2 on the vault to finish with 36.20.
Catherine Rizzo finished second all-around with 34.35, helped by a 9.3 on uneven bars. Zoe Potamianos scored 9.0 on the floor and 8.25 on the vault, tying with Antoinette Sakellariou in the latter apparatus.
Rachel McKean added an 8.80 floor routine and Haydan McGinn scored 8.4 on uneven bars as Whitesboro’s Madison Scialdone won the beam with 9.45 and the vault with 8.65.
This followed an Oct. 24 meet where East Syracuse Minoa/Liverpool earned a 116.85-109.05 victory over Rome Free Academy, led by Jordan Fournier and Rhiannon Butchko.
Fournier scored 8.15 on the vault and 7.20 on the beam on her way to an all-around total of 28.95. Butchko’s 7.90 floor routine led to an all-around score of 27.2.
Individually, both of them trailed RFA’s Haley Miller, who dazzled with a 9.50 vault, 9.30 on the beam and 8.80 on the floor, ultimately getting 35.35 all-around points.
Then ESM/Liverpool faced Baldwinsville on Wednesday night, with the Bees prevailing 123.80-111.65 to stay undefeated.
Butchko did get a victory on the floor, earning an 8.40 routine to edge Sydney McKenney (8.20), but Amory Francis earned all-around honors for B’ville with a 31.35 that included wins on the beam (8.35) and uneven bars (7.40).
