No boys golf team in the Salt City Athletic Conference Metro division survived this truncated regular season unblemished, so Cicero-North Syracuse still had a chance to finish on top.
C-NS Blue improved to 6-1 overall with its solid, consistent effort at Westvale last Wednesday afternoon, the Northstars pulling away from West Genesee Gold in a 193-203 decision.
‘Sam Thompson and Sean Lawler both shot 38 for nine holes, with four 39s offered up by Darin Townsend, Austin Alberici, Brody Kennedy and Mason Ellis ahead of the Wildcats’ low rounds of 40 from Liam O’Connor and Ryan McLane.
C-NS Green has proven quite good this season, too, especially in last Tuesday’s trip to Westvale where everyone at the front of the roster flourished in 193-216 romp over West Genesee Blue.
Drew Kippen’s 35 led the way, with Carter Costello and Jack Wolanski each shooting 38. Riley Rumble and Alex Culver followed, their 41s equal to the Wildcats’ low round by Anthony Pirro.
Back at Northern Pines for Thursday’s match against WG Gold, C-NS Green again played well, but this time lost by a score of 191-199.
Costello and Kippen challenged for individual honors, their 37s just behind a 36 from the Wildcats’ Connor Christie. Rumble shot a 39, with Cullen Scott getting a 42 and Culver earning a 44.
Going head-to-head on Friday at Lakeshore Country Club, C-NS Blue shot 193 to C-NS Green’s 198, with Jake Nardozza taking the individual title thanks to a 37.
Four others – Alberici, Lawler, Townsend and Ellis – finished at 39, negating what C-NS Green did. Scott led his side with a 40, with Kippen getting a 41 and 42s earned by Culver and Wolanski. Rumble shot a 43.
As for Liverpool, it welcomed Fayetteville-Manlius Green to Foxfire last Tuesday afternoon and found itself unable to keep up with the Hornets in a 197-240 defeat.
Dante Cassella shot a 41, beaten by F-M Green’s trio of Matt LaCombe (37), Andrew Heyman (38) and Tobey Schulman (40), and matched by Alex Duggleby. Bradley Cole had a 46, with Joe Sacco adding a 47 and Anthony Bentley a 52.
