Every single member of the Baldwinsville boys golf team remembered that Cicero-North Syracuse Blue claimed the 2019 Section III Class AA team tournament in the Bees’ own backyard at Radisson Greens.
So when the two sides reunited on a cold, windy Thursday at Lakeshore Country Club with first place in the Salt City Athletic Conference Metro division at stake, the Bees got the best of it, edging the Northstars 204-205.
Earlier in the week, C-NS Blue had knocked off previously unbeaten Fayetteville-Manlius Green by that exact same 204-205 score at the Cavalry Club, indicating how close the top teams in the league were.
For this match, They exactly matched each other through most of the final standings. Billy Guild’s nine-hole score of 39 was matched by the Northstars’ Darin Townsend.
Trey Ordway shot 42, but so did Sam Thompson, while Will Shipman and Nate McGregor had rounds of 43 equaled by the C-NS Blue duo of D.J. Villnave and Devon Kellogg.
So it was decided at the top, where Aidan Farmer nearly matched par with a 37, one shot better than C-NS Blue’s top round by Jake Nardozza.
In order to solidify its hold on first place, though, B’ville needs to beat F-M Green next Monday afternoon at Cavalry Club, followed by matches with F-M White and West Genesee Gold later in the week.
