A pair of defeats in the Duke Schneider Memorial Tournament at Skaneateles had slowed down the momentum the Baldwinsville ice hockey team had built going 4-1-1 in the month of December.
So it was important for the Bees to regain its footing as it returned to area Division I action last Tuesday by facing CBA/Jamesville-DeWitt at Onondaga Nation Arena.
But the game ended in a 2-2 tie as B’ville saw goals by Matt Carner and Luke Hoskin negated by Kodi Dotterer’s short-handed tally and a goal from Mason McKie or the Brothers.
Through a tense third period and overtime, neither side could break the tie. Reese Gilmore and Alex Pompo picked up assists on the Bees’ goals, with Brad O’Neill getting 26 saves, one less than CBA/J-D counterpart Joe Salvador.
Back at Lysander Arena Friday night, the Bees faced Ontario Bay and finally returned to the win column, putting together a 5-1 victory over the Storm.
All of B’ville’s goals came in the first two periods, with Carner and Braden Lynch setting the tone as the pair both got three assists.
Five different Bees – Hoskin, Pompo, Keegan Lynch, Garrett Sutton and Christian Ficcara – earned those five goals, Brett Collier adding an assist.
B’ville, who is 5-3-2 overall midway through its regular-season slate, is home throughout this week, first taking on Ithaca Tuesday and then welcoming Watertown IHC on Friday.
