Each of the Baldwinsville indoor track and field teams put together solid showings against tough fields in Saturday’s morning session of the Fred Kirscheneheiter Memorial Invitational at SRC Arena.
Earning 98 points, the girls Bees was second only to Cicero-North Syracuse (175 points), while in the boys meet B’ville had 99 points, but that was third to Jamesville-DeWitt (126.5) and C-NS (116.5).
B’ville’s girls were 1-2 in the 55-meter dash, where Lauren Addario, in 7.42 seconds, beat out Karen Ekure (7.50) for the top spot. Addario prevailed again in the triple jump, going 37 feet 11 1/2 inches.
Allyson Surowick, fifth in the triple jump with 31′ 10 1/2″, beat the field in the long jump, going 16’2 1/2″ as Hannah Johnson got sixth place with 13’11”.
Also, Surowick got third place in the 55-meter hurdles in 9.51 seconds. Anna Conklin went 3:25.23 in the 1,000-meter run to finish third as Sarah Fawwaz was eighth, with Madison Kennedy fourth in the 600-meter run in 1:49.22 and Olivia Creelman ninth.
Annabelle Horan was sixth in the 3,000-meter run. Johnson, Avamarie Davis, Brianna Natoli and Carlie Desimone finished fourth in the 4×400 relay in 4:30.69, with the Bees also fourth in the 4×200 relay in 1:54.16 and fifth in the 4×800 relay in 11:01.48.
Ella Smith, clearing 8’6″, was third in the pole vault. Sarah Smiley got to fourth place in the weight throw, going 31’11” as Lauren Shaler was sixth (31’5 1/2″) and Kathryn Mitts seventh (31’2 1/2″). Amory Frances cleared 4’8″ in the high jump to finish seventh.
B’ville’s boys team got its lone race win in the 4×800, where Connor Waldron, Colin Delaney, Jack Michaels and Owen Weaver posted 8:37.17 to finish more than 14 seconds ahead of runner-up CBA (8:51.23). Aidan Priest cleared 11 feet and won the pole vault.
Steven Miller added a title in the weight throw, his heave of 49’10 3/4″ more than four feet ahead of the field as Alex Boak was fourth with 43’10 1/2″. Miller had a third-place shot put toss of 40′ 1/4″ as Adam Graham (38’11 1/2″) was sixth.
Weaver also had a second-place long jump of 19’11 1/2″ as Robert Thompson (19’5 1/2″) got fifth place, and in the triple jump Weaver went 40’10 1/2″, again good for second place.
Delaney got to second place at 1,600 meters in 4:37.40, just behind the 4:35.72 from West Genesee’s Matt Bartolotta. Waldron ran to third in the 1,000 in 2:42.64, with Michaels third in the 600 in 1:32.67 as Nate Hludzenski finished eighth.
Thompson, Malik Davis, David Mahar and Sam Mellinger were third in the 4×200 in 1:37.37 as the Bees took fourth in the 4×400 in 3:47.80, with Kenneth Svitak sixth in the 300-meter dash in 40.14 seconds. Davis was ninth in the 55 sprint, Bradford Doubleday tied for ninth in the high jump and Tom Bernardin was 10th in the 55 hurdles.
