After an 0–2 start, the Baldwinsville girls bowling team had dropped a pair of matches, but got back on track with two more wins right before Christmas.
The Bees first ventured to Solvay Recreation Alleys last Friday to take on West Genesee and, led by Amelia Ponto, earned a 3-0 shutout of the Wildcats.
Ponto opened with a 210 game, continued with a 172 and finished with a 524 series, tops among individuals. Madison Hass was next, shooting a 474 series and high game of 173.
Jenna Spiech’s 172 highlighted a 470 series as Julia Spiech got a 423 set and Jenna Heirholzer earned a 401 series. Each of them topped WG’s best individual, Rebecca Wituszynski, who had a 386 series.
Then the Bees faced East Syracuse Minoa Monday at B’ville Sports Bowl, and again got a 3-0 shutout over the Spartans, with Ponto again at the forefront, her games of 226, 219 and 202 leading to a 647 series.
The Spiech sisters had series of 567 and 564, with Jenna getting a 224 game and Julia a 202 game as Hierholzer earned a 487 series and Hass a 479 set. ESM got a 521 series from America Carhart.
As for the B’ville boys team, it lost, 2-1, to West Genesee, with Dylan Love’s 514 series just ahead of a 490 set from Tanner Rozyczko and a 470 series from Dylan Williams. Bobby Bidwell led the Wildcats with a three-game total of 554.
Against ESM, though, things improved plenty, especially with Rozyczko, who helped push B’ville to a 2-1 victory over the Spartans
Rozyczko’s twin games of 244 followed a 216 opener and left him with a season-best 704 series. Williams also bowled well, his 651 including games of 225, 220 and 206 as Love got a 208, 204 and 226 in his 638 series.
All of this was needed, since five ESM bowlers had series of 554 or better, though no one matched the series of Rozyczko, Williams or love as Tyler Talarico led the Spartans with a three-game total of 606.
Each of B’ville’s teams will resume on Jan. 7, hosting Cicero-North Syracuse.
