Another season is underway for the bowling teams at Liverpool and Cicero-North Syracuse, with each of them keen on chasing Salt City Athletic Conference Metro division and Section III honors.
It was a tough opening assignment for the Warriors, having to face powerhouse Fulton last Wednesday at Flamingo Bowl, but the Liverpool boys were able to earn a 3-0 sweep of the Red Raiders.
Consistency was the story as five Warriors bowlers shot 600 or better series, led by Zak Ormsby, whose 653 series included a high game of 255.
Devin Roberson posted three 200-plus games in his 645 set as Josh Winzens got games of 230 and 223 in his 623 series. Brandon Davis had a 604 series, just ahead of the 600 from Deacon Roberson that incldued a 235 opening game. Mitch Donaldson led Fulton with a 628 series.
By contrast, in the Liverpool girls 3-0 defeat to Fulton, Makenzi Ormsby shot a 463 series, with Mackenzie Gill (425 series) just ahead of Dominique Cimini and Ashley Hardy (413 series each), but they were all behind the Red Raiders’ Alexis Ingersoll, who shot games of 268, 234 and 226 on her way to a 728 series.
In its season opener last Tuesday, the C-NS girls blanked Central Square 3-0 at Strike-N-Spare Lanes. Katie Cloonan shot a 202 game on her way to a 572 series, tops among individuals.
Helping out, Kathryn Artz had a three-game total of 425, while Jessaia McGriff had a 344 series. To pace the Redhawks, Victoria Ackley had a 455 series and Katie Fredenburg added a 416 series.
In the boys match, C-NS lost, 2-1, to Central Square, not quite able to overcome a 727 series and 278 high game from the Redhawks’ Dimitri Queior and the 628 from Kevin Radziseski.
A 594 series, with games of 214 and 200, from Kyle Patterson led the Northstars as Tyler Dottolo’s 223 game led to a 585 set. Landon Spingler, shooting a 538 series, was one pin ahead of the 537 from J.J. O”Connell.
C-NS bowled again on Thursday against Auburn at Falcon Lanes, and the boys match again was a close one, but this time the Northstars won 2-1 to even its mark at 1-1 overall.
Helped by a 266 game, Patterson finished with a 674 series. Dottolo’s 256 game was part of a 629 set as O’Connell had a 606 series and Spingler a 565 set. All of this helped overcome Auburn’s Matt Mosher and his 723 series that included a high game of 268, plus 239 and 216.
On the girls side, theNorthstars lost 3-0 to Auburn, even though Cloonan shot a 600 series and had a high game of 237. McGriff added a 199 game and 512 series.
Meanwhile, the Maroons’ Kaylee Hodson tore it up with a 734 series that included games of 258, 243 and 233. Hodson’s teammate, Amber Pidlypchak. added a 603 series.
