When the Baldwinsville girls volleyball team set out for Lakeland and last weekend’s Walter Panas Tournament, it did so having again left all of its SCAC Metro division opponents far behind them.
Warming up for that tournament, B’ville used most of its lineup in last Tuesday’s match against Henninger, eventually sweeping the Black Knights 25-8, 25-13, 25-13.
Summer McClintic set a career mark with 11 aces to go with nine assists. Jenna Garvey added 17 assists as, up front, Megan Brecht led with eight kills, just ahead of Taylor LaPage’s six kills as Emma LeGault got five kills. Margaret Dec and Katie Naprawa had four kills apiece.
Two nights later, at West Genesee, it was the same story, B’ville steadily turning back all of the Wildcats’ challenges on the way to a 25-15, 25-18, 25-19 victory.
Rileigh Kimball put away 16 kills, adding five digs. Kyrah Wilbur added nine kills and two blocks, with Sophia Kordas getting five kills and three aces. Garvey notched 22 assists and three kills as McClintic had nine assists and six digs.
In boys volleyball, Baldwinsville went to Oswego last Monday night and, while all of the sets were close, the Bees could not get the key points at the end in a 25-20, 25-21, 25-22 defeat to the Buccaneers.
Aidan Priest and Curtiss Hey boh earned six kills, with Priest adding eight digs. Carter Healey got 16 assists as Bradford Doubleday and Adam Lobdell had three kills apiece, Ben Stisser adding four blocks.
On Oswego’s side, Riley Mahoney had 13 kills , five aces and two blocks, while Cole Pratt finished with 10 kills and four digs. Nate DeVinny got 26 assists.
That was not what B’ville wanted before it had to face undefeated Cicero-North Syracuse Wednesday night, as the Northstars would handle the Bees 25-17 in each of the first two sets and 25-20 in the third set to close it out.
Healey improved his total to 20 assists, with Doubleday getting seven digs to go with five kills. Priest earned nine kills and seven digs, while Lobdell matched Doubleday’s total of five kills. James Morrissey had five digs.
To lead C-NS, Kevin Felasco finished with nine kills, part of a front line where John Hendry gained eight kills and five blocks, while Dan Seliger augmented his five kills by earning nine digs Brandon Millias finished with 26 assists and T race LaRobardiere earned 14 digs.
B’ville’s boys team would play just once this week, at Fayetteville-Manlius on Wednesday, while the girls Bees go to Corcoran Thursday before yet another tournament Saturday at Horseheads.
