Entering the first full week of October, the Cicero-North Syracuse boys volleyball team sported a 10-0 record, and kept on rolling through three more opponents.
In the middle of that run was last Wednesday’s sweep of Baldwinsville, where the Northstars won each of the first two sets by equal 25-17 margins and then took the third set 25-20 to complete the sweep.
Kevin Felasco finished with nine kills, part of a C-NS front line where John Hendry gained eight kills and five blocks, while Dan Seliger augmented his five kills by earning nine digs. Carter Wisely added three kills and two blocks.
Working on the Northstars’ back line, Brandon Millias finished with 26 assists, plus four digs. Trace LaRobardiere again paced the defense as he earned 14 digs.
Just before that, C-NS handled Syracuse City 25-11, 25-13, 25-11 last Monday night, giving Connor D’Agostino an extended look on the back line as he finished with 16 assists, three aces and two digs.
Millias still had seven assists, plus four aces and four digs, while Hendry also got three aces. Brandon Champion led the front line with nine kills as Jared Gilbert produced four kills, four aces and four digs. Felasco, Wisely and Gabriel LoRobardiere had three kills apiece.
Up against Midlakes on Friday night, C-NS lost the first set 25-17, but quickly rebounded by dominating the rest of the match, winning the next three sets by margins of 25-15, 25-14 and 25-17.
Felasco put away 12 kills and seven digs, with Seliger adding 10 kills and nine digs. Hendry got seven kills, five blocks and five digs and Sennett added five kills as Wisely had eight digs and three kills. Feeding all of them, Millias put up 37 assists and nine digs as Trace LaRobardiere managed 17 digs.
Liverpool was back on the court last Wednesday night, taking on Oswego, where it dropped the first set 25-19, but then won a tight second set 26-24 over the Buccaneers to pull even.
Yet once Oswego got the third set 25-22, it wore the Warriors down and won the fourth 25-13 as Nate DeVinny amassed 47 assists for the Bucs, with Riley Mahoney getting 20 kills and Garrett Besaw adding 12 kills.
For its part, Liverpool had 23 assists from Quinn Moore, his passes going to Anthony Pezzino, who had 10 kills, and Elliott DeForge, who had six kills. Pezzino also had 12 digs as Jagger Alberici earned nine digs and Nolan Feidt eight digs, while Aidan Shoemaker had three kills and Jeremy LaManche had four digs.
The Warriors’ match with Living Word Academy on Tuesday was the first of three in four days, Liverpool also going to Syracuse City and Jamesville-DeWitt before the week was done.
As for C-NS, after facing Central Square and Living Word this week, it has a big Saturday showdown with Section V power Penfield, who won the state Division I title in 2016 and ’17.
