Already with a jump in the OHSL Liberty American division title race, the Cazenovia boys track and field team endured cold, windy conditions at Hannibal last Wednesday afternoon, defeating the Warriors 87-53.
A key to the victory for the Lakers was sweeping all of the relay events, starting with a 4×800 where Cazenovia posted a top time of nine minutes, 10.5 seconds.
Then, in the 4×100, the Lakers finished in 46.3 seconds to Hannibal’s 48.8, capping this off by going to the 4×400 relay and winning in 3:48.15, well clear of the Warriors’ 3:54.7.
Ray Satchwell won twice in field events, going 41 feet 6 inches in the triple jump to edge Slater DeLeon, who went 41’2”. In the long jump, Satchwell’s top attempt of 20 feet again topped DeLeon, who had 19’5 ½”.
DeLeon did win the 200-meter dash in 23.8 seconds, though. Angelo Annotto flung the discus 125’10” for first place, while Dalton Sevier cleared 6 feet in the high jump and 8’6” in the pole vault, finishing second in both events.
Noah DeRochie, who finished second in the mile in 4:59.6, needed 11:08.2 to finish first in the 3,200-meter run, with Justin Smith second in 11:13.9.
Jacob Olkowski was second in the 400 hurdles in 1:06.6 as Justin Gagnon was second in the 110 hurdles in 16.5 seconds and Jack Aronson took second in the 400-meter dash in 54.6 seconds.
