Before they hit the holiday break, area high school bowling teams continued to pack in matches in both the Salt City Athletic Conference and Onondaga High School League.
East Syracuse Minoa met Baldwinsville on Dec. 14, earning a point on the boys end, but still falling 2-1 to the Bees as Sean Timmons shot a 637 series for the Spartans at Bowl-Mor Lanes.
Chris Bayly’s 225 game was part of a 577 set as Brett Smith shot a 576 series and 216 high game, but five B’ville bowlers had series of 574 or better, led by Tanner Rozycko, who shot a 268 game on his way to a 705 series.
ESM’s girls lost, 3-0, to B’ville, with the Spartans getting a 548 series and 206 high game from America Carhart as Rachel Deyett (468 series) beat out Emily Petrowski (459 series). B’ville’s Brooke Flask had a 591 series and 220 high game as Hannah Pinard (516 series) and Julia Spiech (513 series) followed.
Then ESM faced West Genesee last Monday, also at Bowl-Mor, with the boys Spartans prevailing 2-1 over the Wildcats and again led by Timmons, whose 649 series included a season-best 258 game.
Bayly again shot a 225, this one part of a 640 series, while Smith got a 614 series and 226 high game. John Messina’s 195 game led to a 525 set.
The girls Spartans won 3-0 over WG as Carhart earned a 625 series with a 235 high game. Petrowski’s 177 game led to a 500 set as Samantha Robinson got a 455 series. Gina Neri led the Wildcats with a three-game total of 489.
In Thursday’s action, ESM swept Central Square. In the boys Spartans’ 2-1 win over the Redhawks, Timmons’ 247 game led to a 638 series, Bayly adding a 604 series and Smith a 226 game and 591 set.
The ESM girls also won 2-1 over Central Square as Carhart shot a 515 series and 191 high game, with Deyett adding a 495 series and Petrowski getting a 466 set.
In Wednesday’s match against Auburn, ESM’s boys won 2-1 as Timmons had a 650 series and Smith’s 218 game was part of a 604 set. Messina’s 565 series included a 215 high game as Bayly had a steady 584 total.
Fayetteville-Manlius visited Oswego last Monday afternoon. At Lighthouse Lanes, the Hornets lost a 2-1 boys match to the Buccaneers despite Kevin Winschel’s 659 series and 225 high game, with Justin Brooks adding a 538 series and Aaron Costanza a 202 game. Eric Carson paced Oswego with a 633 series.
F-M’s girls won 3-0 over Oswego, with Shelby Minor not quite getting the scores she had the week before, but still earning a 192 high game as Rachel Hance had a 168 game and Hannah Brown a 151 game.
A day later, against Cortland, the Hornets won 2-1 as Fiumara went to the forefront with a 593 series and 215 high game. Winschel still had a 200 game in his 539 set as Brooks shot a 217 on his way to a 526 series and Adam Koss got a 476 set.
Over in the girls match, F-M also prevailed over Cortland 2-1 as Minor had a 579 series and high game of 197. Julianna Buonfiglio had a 441 series and 177 high game as Hance got a 422 set. Taylor Cullip had a 509 series for the Purple Tigers.
Christian Brothers Academy had its boys team upset Homer 2-1 last Monday at Strike-N-Spare Lanes, with John Dodge pacing the Brothers thanks to a 225 high game and 583 series.
Helping out, Eddie Niles had a 211 high game and 554 series, with Garrett Bowman getting a 475 series and Colin Slafkosky adding a 444 series and 181 high game. Homer had Mike Grant shoot a 618 series, with a 236 high game.
The CBA girls 5-2 girls defeat to Homer had a 444 series from Anna Ziemba as Blaik Hale (452 series) and Julia Day (441 series) paced the Trojans.
Against Solvay on Wednesday, CBA won the boys match 5-2, led by Vault’s 548 series and Dodge’s 545 series, which included a 223 game. Niles shot a 204 during his 495 set. The girls match also was 5-2, but the Bearcats won despite Ziemba’s 433 series and 171 game.
Bishop Grimes swept its match with Altmar-Parish-Williamstown last Monday, prevailing 7-0 in the boys portion as Matt Rogers and Ben Schultz shot 200 games, Rogers getting a 559 series and Schultz a 497 series. Jeff Dargiewicz contributed a 532 series.
On the girls side, Grimes’ 5-2 victory included Raquel McDonald earning a 404 series as Makenna Gadway (349 series) beat out Katie Knittel and Gianna Robinson, each with 342 sets.
Grimes bowled on Wednesday against Chittenango, losing 2-1 on the girls side, but getting a 3-0 sweep in the boys match as Dargiewicz led with a 199 game and 544 series, Joe Belton adding a 188 game in his 528 set.
