Each facing their own kind of unique tests, the Fayetteville-Manlius, Jamesville-DeWitt and East Syracuse Minoa girls track and field teams roared past them to stay in front of their respective Salt City Athletic Conference divisions.
For F-M, that meant going to Baldwinsville last Wednesday and knocking off the Bees 84-60, a successful follow-up to its victory in the April 27 Chittenango Invitational.
Phoebe White led the Hornets, going one minute, 1.09 seconds to take the 400-meter dash and turning around to win the 400 hurdles in 1:10.30 before pairing with Palmer Madsen, Cady Barns and Susan Bansbach to win the 4×400 relay in 4:07.52.
Isabel Zuber gained valuable points for F-M in field events, going 17 feet 1 inch to win the long jump and then, in the triple jump, getting first place with 35’10 ¾”.
Claire Walters first helped Sophia Ryan, RebeccaWalters and Lindsay Kirkpatrick win the 4×800 relay in 10:23.76 before claiming the 1,500-meter run on her own in 4:54.90. Ryan won the 800-meter run in 2:26.48 and Grace Kaercher went 10:42.77 to prevail at 3,000 meters.
J-D, meanwhile, swept a three-team meet with Auburn and PSLA-Fowler, the Red Rams getting past the Maroons 81-18 and the Falcons by a 76-24 margin.
Alexandria Payne again claimed multiple events, going 15.11 seconds to dominate the 100 hurdles, clearing 5’2” in the high jump ahead of Laetticia Bazile (5 feet) and earning a top long jump of 17’6” as Denise Yaeger went 16’4 ½” and won the triple jump by going 32 feet ahead of Allison Virgo’s 30’11 ½”.
Janna VanVraken needed 1:07.6 to prevail in the 400 sprint. Sophia Vinciguerra took the 1,500 in 5:24.5 as Mariah Williams threw the shot put 27’10” and Sayaka LaClair tossed the discus 73’5” to edge Auburn’s Kayleandra White (73 feet). Amelia Gilbert, Abby Palin, Grace Bridge and Kathryn Sizing claimed the 4×800 in 11:28.6.
East Syracuse Minoa also won big last Wednesday, pulling away against Cortland and Fulton as it topped the Purple Tigers 110-31 and the Red Raiders 116-25.
Mackenzie Bourdon won four events as she went 17.1 seconds to take the 100 hurdles and then won the 400 hurdles in 1:18.9, while also throwing the shot put 29’8 ½” and the discus 85’6” to top those fields.
Mia Montgomery would go 36’10” in the triple jump and 15’1 ½” in the high jump, while Lashae Benjamin was victorious in the 200 in 28.4 seconds. Burdon, Benjamin, Montgomery and Sophie Hartz won the 4×100 in 52.9 seconds.
Mary Roach needed 12:30.6 to prevail in the 3,000, with the Spartans also taking the 4×800 as Melanie DeFeo, Kassandra Burr, Allyanna O’Brien and Jazmin Tyo finished in 11:25.3.
