Once again, the Jamesville-DeWitt and Oswego girls volleyball teams engaged in a long, energetic battle, and once again the Red Rams could not topple the Buccaneers.
Last Thursday’s rematch of the Sept. 18 battle where the Buccaneers won in five sets had the exact same result, only it took a different path as, twice J-D trailed and twice it came back.
Each of the first three sets was close, but the Bucs won the first and third by 25-22 margins, with the Rams winning the third set 25-21.
Trailing again, J-D got even, 25-16, in the fourth set, but could not keep Oswego from taking the final set 25-19 as Laurin Furlong, with 44 assists, and Adeline Benjamin, with 23 kills, set the pace.

Fayetteville-Manlius had a glorious chance at a big win against Liverpool last Tuesday night, but could not complete the comeback, falling in five sets to the Warriors.
The Hornets lost the first two sets 25-18 and 25-20 and, on the brink of getting swept, pulled out the third set 25-22 before winning the fourth set 25-22. Only then did F-M wear down as Liverpool won the final set 25-13.
F-M’s Erianna Madill had 45 assists, passing it to Paige Hulbert, who had 29 kills and 10 digs, and Saara Vahtola, who got 21 kills and nine digs. Sophie Thomas added 13 digs as Madill got six digs and four kills.
