In between the bad weather at the start of last week and the wet weather that showed up before the weekend, the Skaneateles boys tennis team did not have that much time to get in matches.
However, when the Lakers did take on rival Marcellus last Wednesday afternoon at Austin Park, it mostly went well as it beat the Mustangs 4-1, sweeping both of the doubles matches.
Matt Benson and Ryan Bailey paired up for a 6-1, 6-0 win over Noah LaFever and Justin Costa. Then Jack Lawson and Malcolm Lombardi had their own straight-sets win, handling Dan Wrona and Tyler Guerrina 6-0, 6-2.
Up in singles, Joe Ausio won the first set 6-0 over Andrew Kammer, but still lost the next two sets by 6-3, 6-0 margins. Connor Driscoll made up for it with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Shawn Manke as Dan Judge shut out Con Clarke 6-0, 6-0.
Rained out of a match Friday with Cazenovia, Skaneateles will have to make that one up, plus face CBA and Westhill in the last week of the regular season as it looks to improve upon its 7-1 record.
