Like with other spring sports teams at Baldwinsville, the boys tennis Bees saw its week frequently interrupted by wet, stormy weather, which interfered with attempts to recover from an April 29 defeat to Fayetteville-Manlius.
Rained out last Tuesday at Cicero-North Syracuse and again on Friday when it was supposed to travel to West Genesee, B’ville would get in its match on Thursday against Liverpool and handled that part of it, shutting out the Warriors 7-0.
Antonio Marsallo set the tone in singles with a 6-0, 6-0 romp over Brandon Davis. Alex Shaban followed by beating Caleb Munski 6-2, 6-0, with Max Funicello putting together a 6-1, 6-1 win over Anthony Puma.
The doubles matches were a lot tougher, starting with Anthony Pompo and Kyle Robinson needing a second-set tie-breaker to finish off Jeff Noll and Andrew Johnson 6-0, 7-6 (7-4) as Scott Ferrari and Chris Dotto had a 6-3, 7-5 win over Evan Maestri and Ben White.
Otherwise, B’ville saw the team of Ryan Shirk and Mark Dickson handle Jonathan Kline and Brayden Cabrey 6-0, 6-1, with Robinson and Alex Taylor claiming a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Caleb Arnold and Alex Alejo.
