Many top track and field athletes from Jamesville-DeWitt and Christian Brothers Academy would stay at work while school was out, competing last Tuesday in Westhill-Bishop Ludden’s Spring Break Invitational and earning several victories.
The J-D boys swept the two shortest sprint races. Joey Armenta claimed the 100-meter dash in 11.61 seconds, with Haberle Conlon fourth in 11.91 seconds and Trey Greene seventh. Then, in the 200-meter dash, David Fikhman won in 23.08 seconds, chased by teammates Jesse White (seventh, 24.51) and Conlon (ninth, 24.58).
Later, in the 4×400 relay, the Red Rams had Armenta and Fikhman pair with Liam McFadden and Fidel Martinez, and J-D won that event in 3:34.46, more than seven seconds ahead of runner-up Jordan-Elbridge (3:41.62).
Also, the J-D trio of Alex Carbacio, Jack Underhill and Markos Petkopoulos won the 3×110 hurdles shuttle relay, their time of 53.43 seconds ahead of runner-up Clinton (54.89) and the rest of the field. Sam Glisson was seventh in the mile in 4:52.71, with Alan Gao 11th.
In field events, Trey Greene cleared 5’9” in the high jump, the same as three others, but finished second to Institute of Technology Central’s Alfred Danzy as Takuya LaClair (5’6”) finished sixth. Chris Blust (11 feet) and Alex Le (10’6”) were third and fourth, respectively, in the pole vault.
Greene also was fourth in the long jump, going 19’8”. Joe Esposito climbed to fifth place in the discus, heaving it 105’3”. Henry Middleton was eighth in the discus (104’2”) and ninth in the shot put. Donovan Coughlin took seventh place (37’7”) in the triple jump.

Denise Yaeger finished fourth in the 100 sprint in 13.68 seconds while also taking sixth place in the long jump with a top leap of 14’8 ½”.

CBA’s Elissa Kempisty won the girls triple jump, where her best attempt of 33’2”was enough to beat Tully’s Mackenzie Delles (32’11 ½”) for the top spot as J-D’s Allison Virgo was fifth with 31’5” and Ailish McDevitt was seventh, going 30’2”.
Kempisty was second in the long jump, going 16 feet to only trail Tully’s Jessica Donald (16’1 ½”). In the 800, Claire Bargabos was third in 2:26.54 and Deja Jones finished fourth in 2:29.81.
