For one season, each of the Baldwinsville track and field teams had to make do with an entire schedule of meets on the road since the track and turf at Pelcher-Arcaro Stadium is getting replaced.
This meant that the annual John Arcaro Classic would have to change venues. So while B’ville still served as the meet’s host, Cicero-North Syracuse’s Bragman Stadium was used for the event, which drew many of the area’s top male and female athletes.
And the Bees weren’t quiet either, gathering up 75 points in the boys division to finish second to C-NS, who won with 100 points. The B’ville girls also had a strong effort, getting 50.5 points for first place, though far off the winning score of 131 points posted by Fayetteville-Manlius.
Kieran Sheridan gave B’ville a victory in the boys 400-meter dash, earning a time of 51.31 seconds, nearly a full second ahead of Indian River’s Tyler Godin (52.23 seconds) as Evan Vannatta finished third in 52.43 seconds.
B’ville’s other win came in the 4×100 relay, where Sam Mahar, Evan Donhauser, Brandon Brown and Jack Buis got a time of 44.31 seconds, nearly half a second better than Watertown’s 44.75 seconds. In the 4×400, Sheridan, Greg Porceng, Tyler Luciano and Michael Morris finished in 3:32.13, getting second place behind Central Square’s 3:29.62.
In field events, Gabe Horan threw the shot put 45 feet 1 inch, getting second place as C-NS’s Tyler Mosher heaved it 50’1” to win. Judson Fletcher had a fifth-place discus throw of 114’6”as Austin Catalano was seventh (39’8 ¾”) in the triple jump.
Mahar went 11.26 seconds in the 100-meter dash, getting third place as C-NS’s Jeremiah Willis won in 11.20 seconds. Porceng took fourth place in the 200-meter dash in 23.64 seconds. Denis Keegan needed 2:05.61 for fourth place in the 800-meter run, where Evan Biederman (2:08.36) was seventh.
Donhauser had a third-place time of 15.62 seconds in the 110 high hurdles. Justin Goodridge was fourth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:04.07, beating out Josh Scholten (1:04.62), who was fifth, while Ben Thomas took fourth place in the mile in 4;42.41. Joey Frink got sixth place (10:29.81) in the 3,200-meter run as John Kresovich finished eighth.
Ryan Delola got 10th place (10:50.68) in the 3,000-meter steeplechase as the Bees got ninth place (9:13.17) in the 4×800 relay with help from Vannatta, Tim Demjanenko, Joe Licameli and Jake Naples. Griffin Lynch was eighth in the pole vault, clearing 10’6” as Brad Krahl was 10th, topping 10 feet.
Shylea Dukat contended in the 400 hurdles, going 1:10.41 to finish second to F-M’s Gwenn Shepardson, who won in 1:08.29. In the 4×400 relay, Mia Bolton, Tina Bartelli, Katie Wicks and Kelley Hull went 4:15.37 to finish second as, again, the Hornets prevailed in 4:09.23.
Adrianna Straughter tied for the best effort in the high jump, clearing 5’2”, the same as CBA’s Nafysa Williams, but finished second because Williams had fewer misses. Straughter also went 17.54 seconds to earn fourth place in the 100-meter hurdles as Kourtnee Allen cleared 4’10” to get sixth place in the high jump.
Hull was third in the 400 sprint, finishing in 1:01.70, just ahead Bartelli (1:02.05) in fourth place. In the 4×800 relay, Madison Dickter, Patricia Conlan, Anna Demer and Sarah Rodman earned third place in 10:42.18, though F-M won in a blistering 9:44.20.
