Greater Syracuse CROP Walk

Our community believes in ending hunger. And, in 2020, the Greater Syracuse CROP Walk will continue to fight against the new challenges of disease and disaster that leave people hungry. Join virtually with us in raising funds to help neighbors near and far get the meals they need this year.

Thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Greater Syracuse CROP Walk is going virtual Oct. 1-18. Shown here are scenes from last year’s CROP Walk.

This year because of pandemic precautions the 2020 walk will be accomplished virtually. What exactly does that mean? We are inviting each person, organization or community group to determine how they can best participate in this year’s walk. It might be walking around their neighborhood, walking close to their church/workplace, or at one of the many parks in their area. It’s walker’s choice this year. They can pick the place and any day between Oct. 1 and 18. The planning team is hoping that it will make it easier for everyone to participate and walk on  a day that it’s not raining unless that is their preference.

We are encouraging walkers to raise funds via pledges at our online site, crophungerwalk.org/syracuseny. Set up your faith community or agency team page at the address above and invite others from your team to join you. If you need assistance creating your team page, please watch this video tutorial: https://youtu.be/s8N0gN3Wmus

We have also set up an Instagram @syracusecrop and a Facebook group at facebook.com/GreaterSYRCROPHungerWalk that you can like or follow to keep up on the latest posts and connect with other walkers.

Please help us spread the word about the 2020 walk through your social media network your place of worship’s newsletter or website. There are also a number of video clips that you can use in online announcements or during your church’s online worship time here: https://resources.crophungerwalk.org/resources/videos/.

Team captains can visit resources.crophungerwalk.org/resource/team-captain-guide/ for a guide to leading a fundraising team. Participants can also download and print a virtual walker window sign at resources.crophungerwalk.org/resource/virtual-walker-window-sign/

What will your team’s goal be? Feel free to share that on any of our social media sites. The Greater Syracuse CROP Walk planning team has set its goal at $20,020 in commemoration of this unprecedented and very unusual year!

This is also a reminder that people worldwide are in desperate need due to the pandemic. Seventy-five percent of your donations will go to serves those in the most difficult of life’s situations, and 25% of the funds received will remain in Onondaga County and be dispersed among 10 agencies/ministries which feed the hungry.

Visit crophungerwalk.org/syracuseny to register your team. For more information, contact Paul Herpich at 315-457-3591 or pabbherpich@gmail.com.
