DeWitt town hall returns to appointment only
In order to protect both the public and town employees, effective Monday, Nov. 30 in-person business at DeWitt Town Hall will return to “by appointment only.”
All services to the public will be maintained and staff will be working at town hall as usual; however, if in-person services are necessary residents, business owners, and visitors will be required to make an appointment ahead of time. This change is being instituted as a precaution in order to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
The Town of DeWitt is in on-going communication with local and state authorities regarding the zone designations for DeWitt and neighboring communities and is posting any important updates or links on the town website.
“The staff, town board, and I want to serve our DeWitt community to the best of our ability during this challenging time,” said DeWitt Town Supervisor Ed Michalenko, “Right now that includes doing our part to help reduce the further spread of the virus by encouraging as much business as possible be conducted by phone, mail, or our drop box outside town hall; we’re also requiring folks make an appointment when an in-person visit is necessary. Town business is moving forward as usual and we encourage folks to contact us via the town website, or at 315-446-3910.”
Until further notice, in-person business will be done by appointment only; please call 315-446-3910 if you need to schedule an appointment; specific department extensions will be specified on the town’s voice mail.
The public is encouraged to conduct any necessary business with the town online, via mail, phone, or by using the drop box installed outside town hall.
Instuctions regarding what business can be conducted via the drop box is posted on the door to Ttwn hall and on the Town of DeWitt website.
Residents can check the town website for specific information regarding which applications, payments, requests, licenses, etc. you can access online, and also which services can take advantage of the drop box.
For now, town board meetings, on the second and fourth Monday of the month, will revert to Zoom only rather than a hybrid, and will be held at 8 a.m.
Check with the town website before a scheduled meeting for more information.
Generally, only marriage licenses, passports, Food Sense, and planning and zoning board business need to be handled in-person.
