Pre-Registration Opens This May with Proceeds Benefiting Syracuse Police and Fire Departments
Four Central New York-based businesses – 1911 Established, Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, Empire Brewing Company, and Harley-Davidson of Utica – are joining together to host a “Red, Ride, and Blue” Poker Motorcycle Run this July to raise money in support of the Badge of Honor Association (BOHA) and the Fire Fighter Cancer Foundation of New York (FFCF).
The Poker Motorcycle Run is an organized event where participating riders must visit a series of checkpoints, drawing a playing card at each one. Riders with the best “poker hands” at the end of the course will be deemed winners, and will receive a collection of prizes from each host business.
Pre-registration to sign up for this event will be held at Dinosaur Bar-B-Que’s Syracuse outpost, located at 246 West Willow St., from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 4. Registration is $25 for riders and $15 for passengers. This fee includes an event t-shirt and entry to all event activities. For those who do not want to ride but would like to support the cause can do so with a $10 donation to attend the after party at Beak & Skiff. Food and beverages will be available for purchase for non-riders.
One hundred percent of proceeds collected through pre-registration and public entry will benefit the two charities.
“Standing behind the men and women that protect and serve our community has always been a priority at Empire Brewing Company. Joining these other local businesses for a great cause is an honor.” said David Katleski, owner of Empire Brewing Company. “We believe in local pride and support. These are the people that helped us get where we are today. Being a rider myself, I am excited to see some beautiful bikes parked out at the farm.”
The “Red, Ride, and Blue” Poker Motorcycle Run will take place at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 8. The course runs a total distance of 124.6 miles and includes four checkpoints, each providing giveaways for the riders. After registration at the Fayetteville Fire Department, located at 425 East Genesee St. in Fayetteville, riders will receive their first playing card and can begin their ride.
