While the center doors are closed, workers are busy inside with renovations improving the space. The Center will have a new floor in the large gathering room as well as a new room dividing wall. This work is possible due to a Community Development Grant to the village of Baldwinsville from Onondaga County. It is very exciting!
The center building remains closed, but we are working hard on your behalf. The center is offering a drive-thru/walk-up takeaway lunch through the Onondaga County senior nutrition program and PEACE, Inc. The lunch is every Monday and Friday at 11:30 a.m. You must make a reservation. The menu for Monday, Aug. 3, is vegetable lasagna, chuck wagon corn, Italian bread, milk and cookie; the menu for Friday, Aug. 7, is sliced corned beef with Swiss cheese on rye, coleslaw, Thousand Island dressing, milk and fruit cocktail. Call the center at 315-638-4536 for more information and to make a reservation.
Canton Woods is a distribution site for the Farmers Market Coupon Program. The Farmers Market Coupons have a value of $20. The program supports local farmers and promotes healthy eating for seniors! Call the center — you may still be able to participate in this program.
It has been a very hot summer already. You may still be able to get a free air conditioner through the HEAP cooling program. Call your Neighborhood Advisor Nancy Sullivan at the center to inquire.
Tai Chi has resumed outdoor class near the center’s pavilion at 8 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays (weather permitting). Call for more details.
Yvonne Martin, our yoga instructor, has created a Zoom chair yoga session. You will find it posted on the village of Baldwinsville website at baldwinsville.org. Check it out. It will be a positive experience.
The Canton Woods Book Club plans to meet in the center’s pavilion at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18 (weather permitting). The book selection is “Where’d You Go, Bernadette” by Marie Semple. Start reading and join the lively discussion.
We miss you! Stay well! Stay safe!
