Fall is finally here, the kids are back in school and the staff at Baldwinsville Public Library has been working hard these last few months on planning great programs and services for all ages.
If your child doesn’t have one yet, make sure he or she comes in to sign up for a library card. Librarians Corrinne Kushner and Valerie Chism have been busy all summer buying materials to start the school year off right. And the entire staff will be happy to help students find what they need to be successful. Library cards are free of charge to borrowers with proper identification, which includes a picture and current address. Children in grades up to and including seventh grade must be accompanied by a parent with proper identification. Anyone older must have proper identification with their current address. One card is good for all public libraries in Onondaga County — and there are 32 of them!
Before you know it, the snow will be flying and most of us will be looking for indoor activities while we keep warm. If you are a jigsaw puzzle enthusiast, or just enjoy a good challenge, join us on Saturday, Oct. 15, for the Jigsaw Puzzle Swap in the Community Room from noon to 2 p.m. If you have old puzzles with all their pieces or just want to pick one up, please plan on attending.
No one likes to think about disasters, especially those that hit close to home. But it makes sense to be prepared. The Red Cross is offering a one-hour disaster preparedness class beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8. Topics for discussion will include basic safety information, what to do if you have to evacuate your home, what to do if you are separated from family members during an emergency, and how to let your family know you are safe. There is no fee to attend, but please sign up either online (bville.lib.ny.us) or call us at 635-5631.
