The town of Cicero has completed work on the new vehicle for the VIPS (Volunteers in Police Service) unit of the Cicero Police Department. Driver’s Village assisted in the acquisition of the vehicle, and is a proud supporter of the program.
The newly equipped vehicle has been marked with the VIPS name and logo. Cicero Police Chief Joseph Snell and Supervisor Mark Venesky, along with members of the VIPS program, dedicated the vehicle on Tuesday, Sept. 13, at the Cicero Police Department.
More than two dozen VIPS volunteers will utilize the vehicle in their duties, which include performing security checks for residents and businesses, traffic control for special events and emergencies, bicycle registration and much more. Last year the VIPS contributed more than 2000 volunteer hours to the community. More information about the VIPS program is available at the Cicero Police Department website at ciceropd.us.
