Can you imagine how Old Liverpool Road would become jammed with traffic if the state DOT succeeds in reducing the number of lanes on Onondaga Lake Parkway (Route 370) from four to two?
Can you imagine the confusion that will ensue if they turn Interstate 81 into a boulevard through downtown Syracuse?
Can you imagine the long lines of vehicles spilling out onto Second Street if the village approves the opening of a Dunkin’ Donuts drive-thru there?
If you can imagine it, you might want to do something about it.
Make your voice heard
Regarding the Parkway and Route 81 plans, contact Nick DeCirce, at the State DOT Region 3, at [email protected], or call 428-4345.
Regarding the Dunkin’ Donuts drive-thru proposal, contact Liverpool Mayor Gary White at [email protected], or call the village clerk’s office at 457-3441, ext. 1.
Since the drive-thru restaurant site plan is presently being reviewed by the Liverpool Village Planning Board, you should send your thoughts to Chairman Joe Ostuni at [email protected], or by calling him at 457-3328.
You might want to mark your calendar for 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26. That’s the earliest date on which the planners could conduct a public hearing at Village Hall about the Dunkin’ drive-thru plan.

Tryx reunites Sunday
The Liverpool Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks No. 2348 is celebrating its 50th anniversary and will stage its 28th annual Music Fest from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, at the lodge at 3730 Cold Springs Road. One of CNY’s most popular bands of the 1990s, Tryx, featuring vocalists Kevin McNamara and Caryn Patterson, will reunite for a 1:30 p.m. set Sunday. Other acts include Mood Swing, Soul Mine, and Letizia & The Z Band.
“Although this is an annual event, this year is a little sweeter due to our 50th anniversary,” said Elks member and Mood Swing singer Danielle Rausa. “The New York State Elks President is a local Camillus Elk, and Julie Keenan, the current Exalted Ruler of the Liverpool Elks, has been the most successful chairperson for previous music festivals.”
The Elks’ annual Music Fest raises money to benefit Cerebral Palsy Programs of New York State through AccessCNY.
Throughout the years, Liverpool Elks Lodge has assisted in the purchase of an AccessCNY vehicle that allows staff to meet with individuals with disabilities in their homes. “Such services help children and adults with disabilities live life to the fullest,” Rausa said.
Admission to Sunday’s Music Fest costs $5 per person, and children ages 12 and younger will be admitted free; 622-2348
