To the editor:
The Cazenovia Counterpoint Committee would like to thank all the 125 gifted artists, musicians, writers and composers participating in the festival. Cazenovia Counterpoint is a team effort which wouldn’t happen without terrific collaborators and venues who opened their doors for the art and various programs, the 33 businesses and organizations who advertised and those who donated in support of the festival.
This was one of the most varied line-up of events, and one of the most enthusiastically received. People from throughout Upstate New York attended, from White Plains to Buffalo, and from Ithaca to Albany. We know from those completing surveys that there were people from as far away as Houston, Florida and Seattle.
Some wrote they enjoyed everything, “balance is very good,” “keep it coming,” while others wrote “just experiencing new things!” and a few first-timers wrote “all fantastic!” For many their favorite was the opera, while some thought Rising Stars and the Young Composers Corner were great.
Paradise garnered many votes, as did the Art Exhibit, Family Arts Day and Sound Wandering, some asking if we wouldn’t do something similar next summer. Poetry and Writers Corner was the reason many attended, while others came for the film by a Cazenovia native.
Eagle Newspapers published articles and photos, as did other regional weeklies. Syracuse.com posted a feature article with photos, plus a glowing review of the opera posted on CNY Arts.com blog, and the Catholic Sun published an article and posted a video on their website.
Our two summer interns, Margaret Hoeschele, a Cortland native and S.U. student in voice, and Margaret Falcone, a Manlius native and Boston Conservatory student in dance, were immensely helpful.
Thank you all,
Mary Ellen Brzozowski and Neva Pilgrim
On behalf of the Cazenovia Counterpoint Committee
