LIVERPOOL — We know folks in the Liverpool community have a special place in their heart for the annual Mitten Tree.
The giving event runs in the main room of the Liverpool Public Library now through Saturday, Dec. 18. You’ll find room under the tree to place new or handmade mittens, gloves, hats and scarves. At the end of the Mitten Tree drive, we’ll bring the items to a local charity for distribution to those in need. In past years, the donations have been in the hundreds. We’re hoping to continue that success into this year.
It’s fun to watch the warm winter clothing pile up under the tree thanks to our patrons’ generosity.
Also going strong right now at the LPL is the annual Salvation Army Christmas Bureau Distribution.
Bring new, unwrapped toys to the collection point in the main room now through Thursday, Dec. 9. We’ll bring them to the Salvation Army’s drop-off day in downtown Syracuse, where they’ll be part of the annual giveaway day for those in the community who register to take part in the annual event for families in need.
Find information about the donation drives on our website calendar page (lpl.org/events/programs-and-events/events-calendar).
If you’re thinking that you want your young ones to experience the joy of making something heartfelt for a special person, there’s still room left in our event DIY Holiday Gifts and Cards, at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, in the Carman Community Room.
We’ll provide materials to create gifts or cards. Children 5 to 12 should bring their imagination of holiday giving. Register at our LibCal page (lpl.libcal.com/event/8398045).
