LIVERPOOL — Let’s Read, Liverpool!
For fun. To get smarter. For the chance to join your favorite characters in another installment from that author you can’t miss. To relax. For an opportunity to find out what everybody else seems to be talking about.
You choose the reason. When. Where. And, most definitely, what.
Summer reading is taking on a different look this year at the Liverpool Public Library.
Everybody in the community is invited to sign a pledge form that states I Am a Liverpool Reader. The form can be found in paper form on the cover of our June program guide and digitally on our website (lpl.org/events/programs-and-events/summercelebration/). It would be nice if everybody who signs the form take one more click to fill out an online Google form (http://bit.ly/letsreadliverpool), so we have a record of who’s made the pledge.
After that, any level of involvement is up to you. You don’t have to log in and record every book that you read, like you’ve been asked to do in years past. But you can, if that’s part of the program that gives you satisfaction.
The pledge forms are going out in many ways.
In the Liverpool Central School District, pledge forms will be distributed with the LPL June program guide through PeachJar. Pledge forms will also be available throughout our library during the summer months.
Our community engagement team will stock up and go out and about, ready to pass the pledge forms to anybody who asks for them from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 26, on the Dinosaur Garden lawn, and from 10 a.m. to noon and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 28, at Johnson Park and on the lawn, respectively. The team will also be visiting local businesses throughout the summer months. Be sure to check our website and social media for an updated list of dates and locations.
Pledge in the Parks events will take place throughout July:
The community will find our LPL2Go community outreach van with pledge forms, books, and more from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 6, at Good Dog Park in Onondaga Lake Park; 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, July 12, at Sunflower Park; 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, near Wegmans Playground in Onondaga Lake Park; 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, July 19, at Wemesfelder Town Park; and 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, at Willow Bay in Onondaga Lake Park.
There will be raffle prizes and spin-the-wheel prizes throughout the summer, too, at the many events you’ll be able to find at our website calendar page (lpl.org/events/programs-and-events/events-calendar).
We’d love people to share their summer joys of reading with us by tagging us on social media with #LPLSummerReads or emailing us at [email protected].
Individually, we’re all in this together.
