LIVERPOOL — LPL patrons and those throughout Onondaga County who are in the job market have a new resource for discovering information to help with the search.
Librarian Ginny Withers secured an Adult Literacy and Workforce Development Grant for Liverpool Public Library to purchase 75 digital and audiobooks earmarked for adult learning, specifically in the job-seeking category.
“Some people prefer electronic materials, and we didn’t have that much in our catalog in terms of audio and electronic digital,” Withers said. “Now people who have trouble reading for any number of reasons have access to listen to these learning materials. Also people who are reluctant still to come out to the library for other reasons have access to the information.”
The materials are available through Overdrive/Libby, which can be accessed by LPL cardholders at onlib.overdrive.com/onondaga-liverpool/content/search?query=Job+searching. They are also available to all OCPL cardholders via Overdrive and Libby.
Withers said the new materials cover a wide range of job searching topics.
“They cover a lot of bases,” she said. “Changing careers. Exploring careers, writing resumes. How to use social media and LinkedIn in job searching. How to start your own business, how to be self-employed. These materials are for a wide variety of people.”
