If you’ve been shying away from the Zoom crowd because you’re still struck by the fear of the unknown, our Mr. G has a tidy little video for you.
The librarian who has helped solve so many problems for so many patrons who’ve brought their phones or tablets to his Tech Help program table at the Liverpool Public Library has produced Introduction to Zoom. Watch for 9 minutes, 39 seconds and the format used now to gather so many people online for community events, business meetings or family get-togethers will no longer be a riddle wrapped inside an enigma.
In plain speak — and that’s what Mr. G is so good at — you’ll discover how to sign up for an account, how to click into an event and how to best use all the features Zoom affords for free.
Why do you want to join the Zoom generation, you ask?
You might want to attend the monthly 55+: Montezuma Wetlands Complex event from 2 to 3 p.m. Monday, March 22. This month’s edition of the LPL’s monthly gathering for those 55 and over will feature Alyssa Johnson, environmental educator for the Montezuma Audubon Center, conducting a Zoom tour of the grounds west down the Thruway.
But you’ve never taken that virtual step on your desktop, tablet or smartphone. Yes, Zoom is available to all those formats. And Mr. G can help you hook up with his video. Then you can click over to our calendar page and register for the event (lpl.org/events/programs-and-events/events-calendar).
Introduction to Zoom is available on our YouTube channel (https://youtu.be/P6PE_r7zkJs). You can also find it on our website blog at lpl.org/blog/.
We’ll continue to bring you more visual programming online as we all work to beat the pandemic.
Mr. G is back in person with select Friday and Saturday dates in the Collaborate @ LPL room. Make an appointment via the website calendar.
