Come on down to the LPL, all you Han Solo fans, devotees of Obi-Wan Kenobi, lovers of Princess Leia.
And let us not forget followers of C-3PO and R2-D2.
This is the 40th anniversary year for the “Star Wars” franchise. Yes, the original that gave the world all of the characters above in the George Lucas movie that later needed to have “Episode IV: A New Hope” added to the title hits the big 4-0 in 2017. In the decades since, there has been a trio of prequels, and two more films to flush out the original trilogy. In 2015, “The Force Awakens,” the first film in the planned sequel trilogy came out to great acclaim. That will be followed by “The Last Jedi” later this year. In 2016, the eighth movie of the franchise, “Rogue One,” was designated as an “anthology” film.
The Liverpool Public Library will help community members of all generations celebrate the old, present and things to come with The Star Wars Spectacular, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 6, in the Carman Community Room.
The lineup of activities is as long and illustrious as the roster of actors that have graced the series. Fans can take part in the Star Wars I Spy scavenger contest, and dress up as their favorite characters for the costume contest. They can learn great moves in Jedi lightsaber training, and observe great moves in the BB-8 escape. Wits can be matched in the trivia contest and character-quote matching game. Loyalties can be laid down in the favorite villain voting. Star Wars-themed crafts will be available for adults, teens and children. And fan fiction videos will be screened for all to appreciate.
The event is free and open to all.
