A common saying is that all good things in life come to an end, so this will be my last column for the Cazenovia Republican. I just have a few tiny things to say (since I am Blunt Belle) before my departure.
First of all, in my last article, I mentioned some local places that patrons who frequented Junior’s might go. My point was to offer ideas for those patrons just in case Cazenovians were unaware of the other bar-type places in the area. Of course Caz Pizza is right next door to Junior’s, so I thought it went without saying that Caz Pizza was an obvious choice. I mean, it’s three feet away and has wine on tap. It’s a slam dunk.
However, I also did not mention Owera Vineyards and The Brewster Inn. These beautiful establishments offer outdoor seating, fine wine and excellent food. I did not forget about them, I just didn’t include them because, in my opinion, someone who wanted to watch NFL games and eat burgers and have beer probably wouldn’t gather at those places.
Those are simply my humble thoughts, and the article itself got me in a lot of heat. So for any restaurant that I may have not mentioned, I apologize. It was not meant to be offensive.
Secondly, thank you to the newspaper editor for the opportunity to express myself and the ability to enjoy my passion for writing and to do so with my own column. It was a dream come true.
Third and finally, thank you to all of my readers who came up to me and told me that they enjoyed my work and looked forward to reading my rants and raves. It made me feel accomplished and proud.
In closing, it’s a bitter sweet ending. I’ve enjoyed this column, and have been bluntly honest in all that I have written. Unfortunately, the negative feedback has gotten to me, and it doesn’t seem worth the personal attacks to keep offering my opinion. All I can say now is what I’ve penned from the very beginning: We are a community, and we all aren’t going to agree on everything. So, I encourage everyone to please, please just be nice to one another.
