Richard W. Baker, 78, of Baldwinsville, passed away Friday, March 6, 2020, at Syracuse Home. He was born on Jan. 22, 1942, in Baldwinsville, the son of E. Winston and Helen (Perkins) Baker and lived in Baldwinsville all his life. Richard was a graduate of C.W. Baker High School Class of 1960 and served in the United States Air Force for four years as an air traffic controller. He joined his father and his brother Jack at Baker Insurance and Real Estate and continued there for 48 years. He was a member of the Rotary Club of Baldwinsville and was a Paul Harris Fellow and volunteered with Peace Inc. Richard was chosen Man of the Year in Baldwinsville in 2006 for his many years of service in the community.
Surviving are his wife, Suzanne J. (Wood); his brother Jack (Sarah) Baker; step-son, William A. Stanley II; step-daughter, Mary Ann Stanley; grandchildren, Carl A. Popstein II, Laura E. Stanley, Katherine A. Stanley and Alexander R. Dombroski; nieces, Leslie A. Hollander, Emily C. Baker, and Elizabeth H. Baker; several grandnieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, at the Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 12, at St. Mary’s Church, 47 Syracuse St., Baldwinsville, with burial to follow at Riverview Cemetery, 70 Tappan St., Baldwinsville.
