Letitia A. “Tish” Perkins, 89, of Versailles, N.Y., passed away peacefully Thursday, Feb. 13, 2020, at her home with her daughters at her side, under the loving care of Hospice.
She was born March 20, 1930, in Marcellus, N.Y., the daughter of the late Charles Iver and Pearl (Hamilton) Black.
On Dec. 5,1953, she married Charles Perkins who had predeceased her in 2009.
Mrs. Perkins was a graduate of SUNY Morrisville, and worked at the Thomas Indian School. Later in life she worked and retired as a diet tech. with the Seneca Nation of Indians. She had been a member of Versailles Ladies Firemans Auxiliary and helped teach Sunday School at the Versailles Methodist Church.
Mrs. Perkins, in her earlier years, was very active with the youth and the community in Versailles, leader of Versailles Recreation Program, The Edge teen center at Versailles Community Hall. Instrumental for the tennis and basketball court at the commons in Versailles. Tish, among other things, was a gardener, seamstress, faithful fan of the Buffalo Bills and enjoyed playing cards.
Mrs. Perkins is survived by three daughters, Merrie Lou Girard , Pamela ( Jed) Dispenza and Penny (Ian) Forbes, all of Versailles, N.Y., and six grandchildren, Chad, Jenna(Eric), Jill(Jeremy), Joshua (Shannon), Kara (Justin) and Elise, and seven great-grandchildren, and her two beloved Pugs, Frank and Mei. She is also survived by two brothers, Charles and William Black, both of Marcellus, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her loving husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Paul Black, and two sisters, Janet Fox and Judith Baumgartner.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Versailles United Methodist Church or Marcellus First Presbyterian Church.
