LIVERPOOL — On March 14, the Liverpool Central School District will ask residents to vote on the Education 2020 Liverpool High School Capital Project. The components of the capital referendum will include renovation and site work at Liverpool High School, Wetzel Road CTE Academy (formerly Wetzel Road School) and the Morgan Road Complex. It also includes site work at Long Branch Elementary and the Transportation Center.
As the district continues to make progress with the second phase of the Education 2020 implementation, it also is working to develop a deeper understanding of the programmatic and facility improvements necessary to serve the Liverpool community into the future. As part of this initiative, the district is working to utilize resources available to not only address facility needs, but to advance the educational direction of the district.
The estimated cost of this project is $72,184,922. State building aid will cover approximately 86% of the total project cost. The district portion of the bond proposal will be covered by the 2015-2016 and 2020-2021 capital reserve funds. There will be no additional cost to LCSD taxpayers.
The proposed capital project will impact five district facilities:
• Liverpool High School: Major renovations of the center stack (100s, 200s and 300s), main entrance and canopy additions, cafeteria and kitchen renovations, air conditioning in portions of the building, science room upgrades and track & field upgrades including synthetic turf replacement
• Morgan Road Complex: Band room and orchestra room renovations; site work for parking lot expansion, synthetic turf softball field and drainage improvements
• Wetzel Road CTE Academy: Technology education classrooms with high bay addition, FACS classrooms (culinary lab, fashion design lab), broadcast and media marketing classrooms, district office improvements and site improvements for the synthetic turf baseball field
• Long Branch Elementary and Transportation Center: Site work for drainage improvements and a redesigned parking lot with dedicated bus loop
