CICERO — Read on for election night results from northern Onondaga County, courtesy of the Onondaga County Board of Elections Results Caster:
Town of Cicero
With more than two-thirds of ballots cast, Michael Aregano (REP, CON) was elected Cicero Town Supervisor with 4,182 votes (68.73%). Joyce Villnave (DEM) received 1,900 votes (31.22%).
As for the Cicero Town Board race, incumbent Jonathan Karp (REP, CON) retained his seat with 4,052 votes (37.61%). Michael Mirizio (REP, IND) was also elected to the board with 3,976 votes (36.91%). Incumbent Town Councilor Judy Boyke (DEM, CON) received 2,722 votes (25.27%).
Town Clerk Tracy Cosilmon (REP, CON) has been elected to another term with 5,133 votes (99.28%). She ran unopposed.
Highway Superintendent Chris Woznica (REP, CON) also retained his seat. Running unopposed, Woznica received 5,175 votes (99.16%).
Receiver of Taxes Nicole Walsh (REP, CON), also running unopposed, received 5,228 votes (99.3%).
Town of Clay
Incumbent Republicans largely prevailed in the town of Clay. Running unopposed, Town Supervisor Damian Ulatowski (REP, CON) received 7,334 votes (98.73%).
Town Clerk Jill Hageman-Clark (REP, CON) was re-elected with nearly two-thirds of ballots cast (6,048 votes, or 66.08%). Anika Flagg (DEM) received 3,101 votes (33.88%).
Running unopposed for the office of receiver of taxes, Brian Hall (REP, CON) received 7,265 votes (99.1%). Hall currently serves on the Clay Town Board and opted to run for tax receiver instead of another term as town councilor.
Six candidates ran for three seats on the Clay Town Board. Incumbent Town Councilors Ryan Pleskach and Kevin Meaker (both REP, CON) will return to the board, joined by newcomer Deborah Magaro-Dolan (REP, IND). Pleskach received 5,572 votes (21.08%), Magaro-Dolan received 5,524 votes (20.9%), and Meaker received 5,277 votes (19.97%). Democratic candidates Kari Egerbrecht, Fred Hart and David Mariano were not elected to the board.
Egerbrecht received 3,614 votes, Mariano received 3,258 votes and Hart received 3,177 votes.
Town of Salina
Nicholas Paro (REP, CON) was elected Salina town supervisor with 3,157 votes (57.88%). Kathy Zabinski (DEM, Keeping Our Promises) received 2,176 votes (39.9%). Paro is currently the First Ward councilor on the Salina Town Board.
Taking Paro’s place in the First Ward is Jason Recor (REP, CON), who received 911 votes over Democrat Aaron Buchta’s 801 votes. In the Second Ward, Matthew Cushing (REP, CON) received 735 votes over Democrat Leesa Paul’s 635 (Paul also ran on the Keeping Our Promises line). In the Third Ward, incumbent Daniel Ciciarelli (REP, CON) retained his seat with 829 votes; challenger Tina Fitzgerald (DEM, KOP) received 351 votes. In the Fourth Ward, incumbent David Carnie (REP, CON) was re-elected with 715 votes; challenger Duane Maine (DEM, KOP) received 465 votes.
Incumbent Town Justice Andrew N. Piraino (REP, CON) retained his seat with 3,197 votes (58.31%). Anthony LaValle (DEM, WOR, Residents for Justice) received 2,285 votes (41.67%).
Onondaga County Legislature
District 2: Incumbent James Rowley (REP, CON) was re-elected with 2,661 votes (62.42%). Challenger Jay Snyder (DEM, WOR) received 1,600 votes.
District 3: Incumbent Tim Burtis (REP, IND) retained his seat with 3,187 votes (58.8%). Matthew Johnson (DEM, WOR) received 1,983 votes and Peter Nasarenko received 247 votes.
District 4: Colleen Gunnip (REP, CON) was elected with 2,495 votes (58.75%). Stephon Williams (DEM, WOR) received 1,750 votes.
District 5: Incumbent Debra Cody (REP, CON) was re-elected with 2,503 votes (59.41%). Challenger Jana Rogers (DEM, WOR, KOP) received 1,706 votes.
District 14: Cody Kelly (REP, CON), who was appointed to the 14th District seat earlier this year, won his race with 2,785 votes (64.5%). Shanelle Benson Reid (DEM, WOR) received 1,532 votes.
