The Madison County Board of Elections has announced that the New York State 2020 Democratic Presidential Primary has been cancelled. However, in Madison County there will still be a Democratic Primary for the 121st Assembly District and the Republican Primary for the 22nd Congressional District on June 23, 2020.
To reduce Election Day crowds, and to continue social distancing practices, all eligible voters will be mailed an absentee application with a postage paid return envelope. According to Governor Cuomo’s Executive Order, voters can choose ‘Temporary Illness’ on the application as a reason to receive an absentee ballot and vote from home for the June 23, 2020 primaries. Once applications are received at the Board of Elections, ballots will be mailed out starting May 8, 2020.
Polls will still be open on June 23rd for in-person voting. And early voting for both primaries will be held June 13 – 21, 2020 at the Board of Elections office at the Madison County Office Building in Wampsville, NY.
Absentee ballot applications can be found online as well. Once the absentee form is complete, you can either mail, fax or email it back to the Board of Elections.
