As per tradition, Village of Fayetteville Mayor Mark Olson listed the village’s Top 10 Initiatives for 2019 during the village board’s first meeting of the New Year. The following initiatives include:

Forestry Management Plan for Duguid Park

Village’s 175th Anniversary Celebration & Commemoration — to be celebrated on May 6; activities to be determined.

LED Street Light conversion — to start in the next few weeks. The village was first awarded the $50,000 grant to replace the lighting last April.

I&I Sewer Conversion with the county — part of the Meadowbrook-Limestone Wastewater Treatment Plant in Kirkville that needs to undergo $9 million worth of “corrective measures” to fix it.

Canal Landing Phase 5 plan and grant

Construct Safe Routes Sidewalk Project Phase II — scheduled to begin at the start of the summer and to be completed by the end before school starts.

Village-wide compost pilot program

Senior center construction/renovation

Continue to stabilize tax rate

Bishop’s Brook/Limestone Bank Stabilization Project — construction for this grant-funded project is slated to begin June 2020.
