To the editor:
As a local union representative for the last 20 years, I have had the fortune or misfortune of meeting and working with elected officials and candidates for all levels of government. Some of the elected officers I have met have worked harder for themselves or their political party than the people they represent. I can’t say that about Assemblyman Will Barclay.
I first met Will Barclay during his successful 2002 campaign to represent the 120th in the NYS Assembly. Since that first election, Will has represented all the people of the 120th District with the same hard work and dedication he put in that first campaign.
I believe everyone has a defining moment or period in their life that determines one’s success or failure. As an elected official only success will keep you elected.
In 2015, Entergy Nuclear announced their intent to close the Fitzpatrick Nuclear Plant in Oswego County. No one decision by any company owner would decimate a region like the closure of a nuclear power plant. The loss of jobs and the economic destruction would be felt for years. As a community we had our defining moment! We could lie down and except the news or fight for something we believed in.
Our moment was led by Assemblyman Will Barclay. He rallied our community leaders and elected officials and led the fight for something we believed in.
On Nov. 6 let’s reelect a proven leader and keep Assemblyman Will Barclay as our representative in the 120th District.
