During the Legislative Session, the New York State Assembly will be introducing and debating important issues that will directly impact the lives of residents living in the 129th Assembly District. To best represent your interests, I am asking that you take the time to share with me your opinions on some of the important matters that will be discussed in Albany over the next few months.
There are two ways for you to participate:
- Complete the 2018 Constituent Survey
- Attend one of the scheduled “Community Information Nights” which are scheduled for February and March.
The 2018 Constituent Survey was mailed to every household in my legislative district last month. It features 10 questions ranging from the proposed Tip Credit to continuing meetings regarding shared municipal services to the Compassionate Care Act. If you did not receive one, the survey is available online at: nyassembly.gov/mem/William-B-Magnarelli. My office will be collecting these surveys until March 9. My staff has been busy tallying the survey responses that we have already received and for many of the issues, my constituents’ opinions have begun to emerge. If possible, please add your opinion to this important endeavor.
Also, each year I hold four Community Information Nights throughout the 129th Assembly District so that residents have the opportunity to ask questions and voice their opinions and concerns directly with me. I sincerely feel that meeting directly with my constituents and listening to their concerns and priorities is the best way for me to represent you in Albany. This year, at each of these meetings, I will present the 2018 Constituent Survey questions which will be the basis of our discussions. There is also an opportunity for constituents to ask questions and provide concerns or comments regarding other issues they feel are important. I am holding Community Information Nights to hear directly from you. This year’s schedule is as follows:
- Thursday, Feb. 15 – Geddes Town Hall, 1000 Woods Road, Solvay
- Thursday, March 1 – Cecile Community Center, 174 W. Seneca Turnpike, Syracuse
- Thursday, March 8 – Henninger High School, 600 Robinson St., Syracuse
A Community Information Night was held on Feb. 14 at Van Buren Town Hall.
My office handles hundreds of constituent calls per year regarding numerous issues including: education, health, environment, jobs, economic development, senior issues, housing, children and families, workers compensation, veteran affairs, agriculture, mental health and accessing state agencies. In each case, my staff responded, logged the results of the interaction and briefed me on each matter.
If you have any questions or comments on this, or any other state issue, or if you would like to be added to my email list to receive my monthly e-newsletter, please contact my office as follows: by mail: 333 E. Washington St. Room 840, Syracuse, NY 13202; by email: [email protected]; or by phone: (315) 428-9651. I look forward to seeing you at one of these Community Information Nights.
